LCCUK’s President Egonas Jakimavičius commented: “We are proud that our Annual Charity Ball has become a cherished tradition. We are also proud that at last year’s Charity Ball we raised over twenty thousand pounds for ‘Jaunimo Linija, the non-profit organisation working for suicide prevention among young Lithuanians. I believe we can do even better this year to help the Mothers’ Union, a foundation established to help children with cancer and their families in Lithuania. This is also a wonderful opportunity to acquire incredible experiences, prizes and important works of Lithuanian art at our charity auction, to enjoy performances by famous Lithuanian musicians and have a good time at one of London’s most celebrated, iconic and exclusive venues – The Savoy Hotel.”
The Lithuanian Ambassador remarked: “It is a noble deed to help those in need. I am delighted that LCCUK’s Annual Charity Balls has grown into a meaningful tradition, bringing together Lithuanian and British business communities in the UK. I wish every success for the event and urge everyone to make a contribution to the ‘Mamu Unija’ foundation.”
LCCUK and the British-Lithuanian community remain dedicated to supporting industry, education and charitable causes in Lithuania and the UK.
The purpose of the Charity Ball is to raise funds for the selected charity – ‘Mamu Unija’ (‘Mothers’ Union’) www.mamuunija.lt We are proud to announce that all proceeds will be donated to the charity.
‘Mamu Unija’ (Mothers’ Union), a non-profit organisation, established in 2008 by a cancer surviving photographer Eglė Mėlinauskienė and TV host Rūta Mikelkevičūtė. It has successfully accomplished several important projects and works closely with Lithuanian businesses. As many as 100 children are treated for cancer in Lithuania each year. Families affected by this illness have to face psychological as well as financial challenges.
This charitable foundation takes care of every Lithuanian child from newborns to 18 years of age affected by cancer. This organisation purchases non-compensated drugs, pays for children’s treatment abroad, when treatment in Lithuania is not available. In addition, „Mamų unija“provides the necessary medical equipment and hygiene products, organises therapeutic weekly workshops for children and their parents. The founders of the Mothers’ Union have an ambitious plan to build a Family Home – the place where the families of children with cancer can stay during the time of their medical examinations and treatment www.seimosnamuciai.lt
If solidarity could help to save a life, could there be a better cause? Join us to support Lithuanian children in their battle with cancer.
